Parodies of Taylor Swift songs are almost as ubiquitous on Youtube as Frozen parodies. Unfortunately, most of them are, well, not very good. But, once in a blue moon, a channel that performes legitimately good songs and parodies. Postmodern Jukebox is one of these great channels, and is actually one of the most unique channels on Youtube as a whole. As you might be able to decipher from the channel name, Postmodern Jukebox does parodies of popular songs in old styles, in this case, the musical style from the movie “Grease”. In ever one of their videos, they have very skilled musicians, great compositions, and amazing singers. And of course, the song they are parodying is Taylor Swift’s most recent hit, Style.

Not only is this video a nice nostalgic throwback to a time long ago, (i.e., the 70s) but it is also an interesting experiment to see if nowadays songs should be made less with computer generated instruments and rather with real, live musicians. Personally, for many of Postmodern Jukebox’s songs, I actually like their version better than the original song, but that may be just me. Certainly their video give an interesting perspective on things, and are always entertaining nonetheless.
