Loading...Did you hear about the recent UK election? Probably not, as there’s a good chance you’re American, and to be honest, us Americans couldn’t care less about the UK elections. We really don’t care what party got more seats in Parliament. The only thing that will get us to care is if it is interesting in any other way than just this person got that seat in this town blah blah blah. We need some real stats, some story to get out of the election. And that’s what CGP Grey, in one of his recent videos, did exactly, when he made the bold claim that the UK election results are the worst in history.
In the video, you will learn exactly how he came to believe that, and it’s pretty interesting. CGP Grey has done a couple other videos why majority wins or first-past-the-post voting systems are terrible, and this pretty much proves it. If you watch the video you will learn about this in a lot more detail, but basically, the votes that were actually cast were unrepresentative on multiple levels, not only because the constituency (county) votes were unrepresentative, but it only gets worse when you bring that on a national scale.
