The Internet is an incredible tool in an infinite amount of ways, but the one thing it does the best is connecting everyone in the world, no matter where they live, or how much money the make. Although many of us know the location of many of the biggest countries, or at least know their names, a much smaller portion of us have ever seen or experienced the wonders and beauty in these places. JacksGap, a YouTube channel run by Jack Harries and his twin brother, Finn Harries, is a channel that creates videos that show people who can’t or just haven’t gone to these places what they are really like.

Back in 2012, JacksGap was created as a way of documenting Jack and Finn’s Gap Year, the year that many take off between high school and college, hence the name JacksGap. (the channel started with just Jack) After that year of filming Jack and Finn traveling the world, the channel grew so much that Jack and Finn continued the channel, and didn’t stop traveling the world in search of amazing experiences, places, and people. Since then, JacksGap has created videos documenting an amazing plethora of places from around the world, in different formats, series, and styles.

Over time, JacksGap has visited and created a video about a bunch of different countries, cities, and areas, including Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Rome, Orlando, South Africa, and more. Not only does JacksGap’s videos have amazing footage, but they are edited in a smooth and sleek style, using white tags for titles and in video thumbnails, along with great soundtracks and overall well-shot footage. Rather than a travelogue, JacksGap’s editing makes their videos feel more like professional documentaries, which, to be honest are being influenced more and more by amazing video series like JacksGap’s.

More recently, JacksGap has branched our from simply visiting places and recording their travels. 1 year ago, Jack and Finn, along with 5 other filmmakers and adventurers, embarked on a journey across India in 3 tiny cars, or rickshaws. All 7 of them filmed the whole experience from start to finish, and in when it was over JacksGap made it into a 4 episode series called The Rickshaw Run. It really is a great and entertaining series, not to mention all the money they made from the videos went straight to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

In terms of purely travel videos, JacksGap has recently been creating videos they call 24 Hours In… in which they travel to a certain place for 24 hours and create a video about their experience. Overall, Jack visited New Orleans, Tokyo, and Istanbul, which is the video featured above. Along with those videos, Jack and Finn also still create their normal travel videos, including a recent video about their weeklong trip to the Philippines. But besides for these two formats, JacksGap has also been branching out with their videos. A while back, Jack and Finn started a series called Shed Sessions, where they invite a certain musician or music group to come perform in a nice, comfy shed of theirs out in the English countryside. Fairly recently, Jack partnered with Skype to create a three-part series of documentaries about three interesting women, a shark conservationist, a artist, and a violinist, called Following Heart.

Besides for those series, which are now all finished, JacksGap has been creating many great videos, and we can certainly expect many more great videos to come from them. For instance, a series that is currently underway on JacksGap is called The Collaboration Project. The Collaboration Project is a series of videos where Jack and Finn set a topic for a certain video, the previous ones have been Fear, Love, and Belief, and have people send in video response where they say what they feel about that certain emotion. These videos are always emotional, interesting, and make for a great video series.

Altogether, JacksGap is a channel that highlights amazing places and people in a fun to watch, interesting and aesthetically pleasing way. Even though JacksGap has already made and finished a bunch of amazing video series, there are still many great videos to come, as well as Jack and Finn starting their own company, called The Good Collective. We can sure to expect, a bunch more travel videos, along with other endeavors that Jack and Finn end up going through with. It’s very exciting to see what they will come up with, and I’m sure all of their videos will be just as good, if not better, than the ones they’ve already created.
