To start off the video, Destin shows us one really amazing optical illusion, which really sets the stage for the rest of the video. You see, the rest of the video is on a little gadget that one man out in the middle of the desert made that cleverly tricks your eyes and brain. The device uses a programmed stick of LEDs that flash different colors at very high speeds, but when you look at it, you perceive it as whatever picture you originally programmed it to display.
Destin went out to meet the creator of machine, and more specifically to film the machine using a high-speed camera. Because Destin wondered,as you very well may after first seeing the device, how it makes such smooth, unbroken lines when in reality it’s just a flashing and spinning LED stick. The video explores why exactly our eyes are tricked by the spinning LEDs, and even gets into how our eyes work in general, and of course, in a fun and interesting way, as per Smarter Every Day style.
