Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live off the grid, just in the middle of nowhere? For most of us that would be impossible, as our lives depend on being in a suburb or city. But for the few adventurous ones among us, living off the grid is a dream that they had realized, through one way or another. Today’s featured video is on a snowboarder named Mike Basich who decided that he was done with competitive snowboarding, built a 225sq foot house out in the mountains of Northern California, and has been living there ever since.

Mike Basich was a pro-skateboarder for a long time when he was younger and made his fair share of money and fame over the years. Eventually, he got tired of life like that in the city, what he describes as being in a rat race, and decided to build his little house out near Truckee, CA. Even though the house is only 225 square feet, the property is 40 acres, and the house he built himself is absolutely amazing. Now he just snowboards and does photography, leaving competitive snowboarding behind. Overall, the video really shows how even though Mike lives in a very off-the-grid way, he still has an enjoyable and interesting life doing what he loves to do.
