There’s a game out there in the Internet world, specifically the Youtube world, called the Whisper Challenge. The Whisper Challenge works like this: there are two players, one with a pair of headphones on, and one without. The player with the headphones is listening to very loud music; so loud that the player can’t hear what the other person is saying. The player without the headphones then whispers a bunch of pre-picked phrases, and the player with the headphones tries to read the other person’s lips and guess what they are saying. Most of the time, they get it spectacularly wrong, which is what makes the game funny and fun. Bad Lip Reading takes that idea to a whole new level, except as with the Whisper Challenge the lip reading mistakes are by accident, Bad Lip Reading makes the mistakes on purpose.

Essentially, Bad Lip Reading is pretty self-explanatory. What they do is create videos by taking clips of famous things, like TV shows, presidential debates, music videos, etc, and voice over them to make it sound like the people in the video are talking gibberish. You may not get the point of a whole channel dedicated to making videos like this, but once you watch one of the videos, you’ll know why – they’re pretty funny. And their stats back that up, as they made their first video 4 years ago, and 4.6 million subscribers and 537 million views later, there still doing it. Their most recent video, in fact, parodied an event that drew eyes from all over the United States: the first democratic debate.

Taking clips from throughout the debate, Bad Lip Reading hilariously satirized the debate by voicing over very convincingly for each of the candidates, from Hillary Clinton to Lincoln Chaffee. (you can watch the video above) In case you’ve always wanted to hear presidential candidates discuss whether Anderson Cooper should buy a scooter, or see Bernie Sanders try to come up with 10 nouns in 13 seconds, today’s your lucky day, as in the video the “candidates” discuss these topics and more. Not only did Bad Lip Reading parody this debate but they also did the Republican debate, going to town on the voices of Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, and the rest of the republican candidates. (you can watch that video HERE)

And the amazing thing about all of these videos, besides for the fact that they’re so funny, is that they are so realistic. It really does sound like Hillary is bragging about her pinto beans, because they times the voiceover so well and picked words that fit perfectly with her lip movement. All of Bad Lip Reading’s videos are very funny, and always make you laugh at the sheer silliness of them. So even though they call themselves bad lip argue that the people behind BLR are actually brilliant lip readers. (just maybe not truthful readers.)
