Sleep is something we all desperately, and yet many of us don’t get enough of it. We all like sleep, and may even crave it at the end of a long day, but during it we tend to be very unproductive. So, many of us choose, maybe out of necessity, to stay up late or wake up very early to get more work done. But that leads to sleep deprivation, as the average adolescent needs 10 hours of sleep a night and an adult needs 7-8. So what happens when you lose your much-needed sleep? What effects does sleep loss have on your body, and what causes those effects, anyway?

In this great video by TED-Ed, you’ll learn all about sleep deprivation and its causes and effects. From what makes us sleepy in the first place to what happens if you go days without it, the video teaches you enough about sleep deprivation so that you’ll convince yourself you need more sleep, no matter how much you get right now. After all, sleep is good for you, and not having enough is very bad. Altogether, the video is very interesting and conveys the information in an easy-to-understand and well animated way.
