Anyone who knows me knows I’m no fan of Justin Beiber, an opinion of which I’m sure I’m not alone. But that doesn’t mean I dislike his songs no matter what; it just so happens that he hasn’t yet made a single song that I don’t find incredibly annoying and hard to even listen to. That’s just me, as I know there are plenty of people out there who actually (somehow) like his music. Unfortunately, that means we have to listen to his music much more than I would choose to. Luckily for us, Postmodern Jukebox, a YouTube channel that takes popular songs and performs them in different, often old styles, has our backs. In this case, PMJ takes Justin Beiber’s recent song “Sorry” and performs it in the style of “Vintage Motown” from the early 60s.

Sung by Shoshana Bean, Postmodern Jukebox surprisingly performs the song so well, with a great Motown arrangement, that I actually like their version. The musicians, including a pianist, a saxophonist, bassist, and a drummer all play excellently, and Shoshana Bean does an amazing job as well. I have to congratulate Postmodern Jukebox for doing something I previously thought impossible: making me enjoy listening to a Justin Beiber song, even if it isn’t his original version of the song.
