Almost 10 years after the introduction of the iPhone, smartphones of their like have become pretty much ubiquitous. A couple years ago, you may have been able to find someone without a smartphone, but nowadays I’d bet you could walk for a long while without finding someone who doesn’t own one. They are a key part of the daily lives of millions around the world, and as CGP Grey argues in the video above, your smartphone is almost an extension of yourself.

In the video above, Grey talks all about smartphones, our personal privacy in relation to our smartphones, and the laws protecting that privacy. Whether or not you agree with the invasive data collection of government agencies all over the world, it is helpful to think about our privacy and our phones from many perspectives, in Grey’s case, arguing that our phones are more important to ourselves than we might think.
