And yet we are still growing, and it is estimated that by the end of the century the global population of us pesky humans will have reached a whopping 10 billion. That begs the question: can we sustain a population of that size, and what will be its effects on our precious planet?

As you may have guessed, it’s not promising, although we can still hold out hope that some miracle technology such as fast and cheap space travel might save our bacon in the meantime.
