To most people, bees are mostly just pesky little flying insects that sting you. And while that’s a perfectly good assessment, it doesn’t take into account the fact that bees are in fact incredibly important to many ecosystems, crops, and even the world economy. So important, in fact, that if they were to die out, it would be a catastrophic event leading to billions of dollars lost in crop production, manufacturing, and more. And guess what? That’s exactly what’s happening.
Called “Colony Collapse Disorder”, a bee epidemic is going on at the moment, and yet still not many people know about it. Bee’s lifespans are dropping, their colonies shrinking, and scientists have labeled this a serious threat. Why? Because of the reasons above; they’re just so dang important. In the great video above, Life Noggin talks about what life would like without the bee, and I have to say, it’s surprisingly different.
