Loading...Holograms have a history of being prevalent in pretty much every science fiction movie/book, whether that be Star Wars, Minority Report, or one of the many other sci-go works. Currently, we’re limited to screens to display computer generated graphics, but in the future is seems reasonable that we won’t be tethered to pieces of glass and holograms would become a mainstream piece of technology. Of course, we’re still a ways away from a time like that, but that doesn’t mean holograms don’t exist in some sense of the word.
The video above, made by SciShow, highlights Microsoft’s new augmented reality headset HoloLens. While not a holographic device, the headset can project a 3D model, game, graphic, etc., in your field of view, essentially creating a faux hologram. The technology behind augmented reality technology is actually very interesting, technology that is explored in-depth in the interesting video above.
