You might’ve heard about the (relatively) recent discovery of something scientists are calling “gravitational waves”. Everyone who has gone through high school science should know about good old normal electromagnetic radiation such as visible light (in wave form), radio waves, and more. We can even make the comparison to waves in water, as the video above does. But what in the world are “gravitational waves”? How can gravity be a wave, anyways?

In the fascinating video above, Henry Reich of MinutePhysics tells you all about what gravitational waves really are and how, a century after Einstein predicted them, we finally confirmed their existence. For a topic so complex, Henry does a great job in explaining it in an interesting way such that even someone completely new to astronomy and astrophysics can understand it.
