Most music, especially popular music, is in the meter of 4/4; four beats per measure. It’s what we think of when we think of counting time. Unless you’re listening to, say, a waltz, which is in 3/4 – a meter with three beats per measure (one, two, three, one, two, three, etc.). While they are uncommon, there are plenty of stranger meters than 4/4 and 3/4, one of which being the meter of 15/8. You’ve probably never heard a song in 15/8, and it’s pretty strange when you hear it. That’s exactly why Andrew Huang, a musician on YouTube, decided to make a rap in it.

The video above is that rap, titled “Nostalgia”. It’s actually quite a good piece of music, Andrew Huang doing a fantastic job in making a catchy song in such an odd meter. Not only is it entertaining to listen to, but it’s a great example of the creativity and talent of some of the creators on YouTube, Andrew Huang being just one of many.
