Everyone knows Scandinavia; the place with Vikings and fjords. And, if you know a decent amount of geography, you know that Scandinavia consists of four countries: Sweeden, Finland, Denmark, and Norway. Right?

Well, actually, no. To my (and anyone who will watch this video) surprise, Scandinavia is not the name of those collective countries. As CGP Grey explains, Scandinavia is actually just Norway Sweeden and Denmark. Who knew.

Apparently lots of people, as the technical grouping of these northern countries goes even deeper than that, as you’ll learn from the video. But, just watch with the comfort of knowing that whenever Scandinavia comes up in conversation again, you will be the annoying one to tell them, no, that’s the wrong term. It’s actually The Nordic Countries, or Fennoscandia, or whatever other term is technically correct in that situation.
