If you had to write a letter, or in this case, create video, what exactly would you say to these newly arriving extraterrestrials that would introduce our species? It’s a tough question, and an interesting mental exercise. There are a lot of factors to take into account, as our species has branched out and is so complicated that we don’t fully understand it ourselves. But, in this old video by vlogbrothers, in particular Hank Green, Hank tells the aliens everything he thinks they need to know.
Despite being very entertaining, the video is very profound in it’s very empirical, pragmatic, an straight to the point view of our society. He talks about our body, our social system, our economy, our religions; and yet, he talks about it in a way even an alien would understand. For instance, rather than say we are 6ft tall, Hank related our height to the width of a hydrogen atom. The whole video is a very interesting an retrospective, interesting, and entertaining video, and I encourage you as well to take on the challenge of making a letter to the aliens, to introduce our species to the new arrivals.
