Most card tricks are all done in a pretty similar way: they start with the viewer picking a card, and they end with the magician magically finding that card. There are thousands of variations of this trick, so many that the phrase “pick a card” is immediately associated with magic tricks. But Zach Mueller decided that rather than learning how to perform the traditional type of card tricks, he would learn what he calls Cardistry.

Cardistry involves one or two cards. Basically, you have to manipulate the cards in the air so it looks that they are floating and moving in a mesmerizing, almost mechanical way. In the video, Zach performs a little routine of Cardistry, and I have to say, it is pretty amazing. He has the interesting ability to move his hand up and down the edge of the card without it moving an inch, giving the impression that it’s floating. Overall, the video is fun and quite astounding, but it also shows you a new type of card trick, and one that is solely about coordination and skill.
