You might have heard about the recent Apple versus the FBI situation recently. Essentially, the FBI asked Apple to create a backdoor in their security system, claiming to want to use it to get into the phone of the San Bernadino shooter. (a noble cause, although it was later found out that they had already cracked the phone) Apple refused, publicly stating that they believed it would endanger every Apple user’s privacy around the world. That may seem crazy, right? All they want to do is crack one person’s phone, and for good reason. (at least, so we thought)

Well, as many of the people who spoke out in agreement with Apple say, a backdoor to an iPhone is much more dangerous than a key to a regular, physical lock. In the interesting and entertaining video above, CGP Grey talks about locks, both physical and digital, encryption, and the consequences of a hypothetical “universal key”. After watching, you may have a different opinion on the issue, and although this one incident is over (for now), we are sure to have many more important argument like it in the future.
