Don’t you find accents weird? I mean, we’re all the same species, all talking in the same language. Accents can be prevalent even within cities, such as a Bostonian or New York accent. It’s not like these cities have a particularly odd population, or that there was a day when everyone in Boston suddenly decided that they going to start talking different from everyone else.

BrainCraft goes over this and more in their video about exactly what accents are and what affect they have. And some of these effects are pretty surprising; for instance, the thickness of the accent can even change how you perceive what the person is saying. It sounds odd saying that, but it makes sense when you think about it. Is there a reason that most supervillains are British? Probably, and it’s because of the accent.
