Loading...Many Star Trek fans, and fans of many other sci-fi shows and books, long for a technology that would enable us to travel to other stars: warp drive. But, not many of us actually know what this technology is, how is works, or even if it is at all plausible. Recently, there was a lot of hype that NASA was researching a technology called an EM drive which is supposed to have the same effect as a warp drive. So, is it just hype, or are warp drives about to become a reality?
Well, sorry to rain on you sci-fi fan’s parade, but probably not. In this great video by Sci-Show Space, Hank Green tells us why warp drives, or EM drives, are pretty much for sure not possible in the near future. Unfortunately for any of us wanting to go to a star system in our life-time, the EM drive testing that has been going on recently most likely isn’t the ticket.
