Food has always been something that we are cautious about, since nobody wants something potentially harmful going in their body. And as food companies and farms around the world continue add more and more chemicals, preservatives, and other additives, people have become pretty suspicious of what they put in their mouths. Not to mention that it certainly isn’t helpful that food companies often label their food to be “chemical free” when in reality nothing is or can be chemical free. In this interesting Asap Science video, you’ll learn all about chemicals in food, and why saying something is “chemical free” can be very misleading.

The main reason that it can be confusing to customers to say “chemical free” is because even food that is usually considered healthy, like a banana, has plenty of chemicals. None of which you would have any ideas of what they are or even how to pronounce, by the way. Hopefully with this knowledge next time you go to the grocery store you can make more informed decisions and not immediately reject food with unpronounceable chemicals, but rather research what you eat and how it affects you.
