Colleges and universities have for a long time been the way for smart people to prepare for life in the best way possible, mostly by packing their brain with all the knowledge they will need along the way. But along with that, and maybe even more so, you get the stamp of approval that you graduated, especially if that stamp is from a good school. Just saying you graduated, or even just went to Stanford, Harvard or Yale will make people think differently about you on first impression.

But does the college you graduate from really matter? In this interesting video by Asap Science, you will learn all about the psychology, science, and statistics behind college and graduating college. For instance, there is a phenomenon called the “Big Fish, Little Pond Effect”. What it means is that the top 99% of graduates at the worst college in the U.S. will be more successful (by some measures) and do better in school than the 75th percentile student at the best school. Basically, the video concludes by saying that what really matters is you believing in what you can do, and not judging your smarts by the school you go to, and that is certainly something that most of us can agree with.
