Loading...We’re 9 days into October, so it’s officially Halloween season, as you might have gathered by the decorations at your local Safeway or Michaels. And so, to start off the season of scary stories, today’s featured video is a fairly creepy story about a group of Russian hunters who took an ill-fated trip through a Russian forest. By Atlas Obscura, the video is titled “The Dyatlov Incident”, named after the case talked about in the video.
The Dyatlov Incident involves a group of Russian students and a mysterious Russian forest called Dead Forest in the local language, which to be honest isn’t the most inviting name. The group were pretty experienced hikers, but when they didn’t show up at their rendezvous 10 days later the Soviet government sent out a search and rescue team to look for them. What they found is admittedly very disturbing and enigmatic, but as the video later explains, there may be an explainable scientific reason behind the incident. Altogether, the video is a great (and even slightly educational) way to kick off the Halloween season.
