Companies are a large part of our daily lives, and without them, life as we know it would be significantly harder. They provide us with food, clothes, shelter, and most importantly, internet access, among other things. And there’s no doubt that companies aren’t all good, and many do things that perhaps skirt the law. But you may be surprised to learn that there are many companies around the world, unknown to the general public, (and most likely the authorities) that’s sole purpose is allow the owner to participate in illegal activities.

In this interesting video by TED-Ed, you’ll learn all about “anonymous companies” and how they are used, due to their anonymity, to evade the law. The whole situation starts because of the difference in the laws of different countries. Some countries have stricter laws in terms of company personnel regulations, and some are more lackadaisical. Countries that allow companies to be registered without collecting info on who owns or runs the company are called “secrecy jurisdictions”, and harbor many companies run by people from all over the world who are up to no good. I won’t tell any more of the story, as the video tells it much better, so if you want to learn more, watch the video above. (plus, it has sweet graphics to go along with their explanation)
