It’s impossible to even imagine life without it, as individual organisms wouldn’t be able to pass on their traits, therefore the millions of species we see on Earth today would never have evolved. DNA is the difference between us and sea slugs; it’s the blueprint for what any given creature will look and act like. Therefore, it must be pretty complicated, right?
That intuition would be correct, as even though we discovered DNA in 1869, we’re only scratching the surface in understanding the extent its influence over everyday life. But despite that, in the couple decades, scientists have managed to figure out how to manipulate DNA to our advantage at a basic level.
