There are many ways to explain how humans came to be around. Many religions and peoples around the world have their own ideas about how this happened, but modern science has proved, almost without a shadow of a doubt, that evolution is the way it really went down. Darwin pretty much had it right; us humans evolved from earlier creatures, which evolved from earlier creatures, which (guess what?) evolved from even earlier creatures. This goes back all the way to single-celled organisms, floating through the ancient seas of the Proterozoic Era. All this is very complicated, and couldn’t easily be taught in 2 minutes, so Anita Yen and Eustace Ng decided to tackle that and make the short film, Ape.

Ape is a short film that chronicles the evolutionary process from apes to humans. (although it didn’t really happen that way) Made using stop-motion claymation, the 2-minute long film explains, in a tongue-in-cheek way, how humans evolved. Even though human evolution didn’t actually take place over the place of an afternoon for a prehistoric ape, the video does give a fun, maybe slightly dumbed down version of how evolution really works.
